About Vulcan Dental Clinic

Local dentistry with deep roots in the community.

Vulcan Dental Clinic combines comprehensive general dentistry, modern technology and a practical, patient-focused approach to care.

Our story

Built to serve Vulcan and the surrounding area.

Dr. Mike McKee began working at Vulcan Dental Clinic in 2014 and later purchased the practice that same year. In 2019, the clinic moved into its current purpose-built location at 95 Centre Street East.

The goal has remained straightforward: provide comprehensive dental care close to home, make treatment options easier to understand and continue improving the technology and services available to patients in Vulcan County.

Whether you are here for preventive care, a broken or painful tooth, restorative treatment, implants, clear aligners or help managing dental anxiety, we want the next step to feel clear and manageable.

How we work

Practical care, explained clearly.

Listen first

Your symptoms, goals, previous experiences and concerns are part of the treatment conversation.

Explain the options

When there is more than one reasonable approach, we discuss the trade-offs before you decide what feels right.

Use technology thoughtfully

Digital X-rays, 3D imaging, scanning and intraoral cameras are used when they add meaningful information to diagnosis or treatment planning.

Your dentists

Two experienced general dentists, one local team.

Dr. Mike McKee sees patients Tuesdays through Thursdays, and Dr. Scott Thordarson sees patients on Fridays.

Dr. Thordarson graduated from the University of Toronto and has practised dentistry for more than 35 years. His career has included small-community practices in Northern Ontario and in Nelson, Midway and Grand Forks, British Columbia.

He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and has completed extensive continuing education in orthodontics. Over the years he has helped many children and families, provided denture care and treated a broad range of everyday dental needs.

Dr. Thordarson and his wife, Rose, now live on an acreage near Brant, where they are enjoying semi-retirement and raising sheep. His long background in rural practice makes him a natural fit for the Vulcan community.
