Digital Dental Technology

Digital technology can improve how we collect information, explain findings and plan treatment while keeping the patient experience efficient.

How we approach it

Start with the diagnosis, then choose the treatment.

Vulcan Dental uses digital X-rays, 3D imaging, intraoral scanning, intraoral cameras and digital charting as appropriate to the clinical situation.

Care may include

  • Digital dental X-rays
  • 3D imaging for selected diagnostic and treatment-planning needs
  • Intraoral digital scanning
  • Intraoral cameras for patient education
  • Digital charting and treatment planning
  • Magnification and modern clinical workflows
What to expect

A simple, step-by-step process.

01

Use technology when it adds value

Not every tool is needed at every visit. Technology is selected based on the question we are trying to answer.

02

See what we see

Digital images and intraoral cameras can make it easier to explain findings and discuss treatment options.

03

Plan with better records

Digital records can support diagnosis, communication, monitoring and restorative or implant treatment planning.

Questions about dental technology

Common questions.

These answers are general. Your dentist can give you advice that is specific to your situation after an assessment.

Why use 3D imaging?

3D imaging may be recommended when conventional dental X-rays do not provide enough information for a specific diagnostic or treatment-planning question.

What is an intraoral scanner?

An intraoral scanner captures a digital 3D model of the teeth and gums and can replace traditional impressions for many dental workflows.

Do digital X-rays still use radiation?

Yes. Dental radiographs use ionizing radiation, which is why they are recommended when clinically useful and appropriate exposure protocols are followed.
